Hy-Vee continues to discover new ways to bring helpful smiles to every aisle, including the launch of its Fast & Fresh concept last year. Despite its small size—a paltry 10,000 square feet vs. Hy-Vee’s typical 85,000 square feet—Fast & Fresh packs in multiple foodservice counters, full beer, wine and liquor offerings and an array of grab-and-go options. While Hy-Vee only has only one Fast & Fresh location, in Altoona, Iowa, the 245-store chain has hinted at plans to open one or two more locations in the Hawkeye State. Hy-Vee has also made good on its promise to go forward with its partnership with the Wahlburgers restaurant franchise. With plans to open 26 restaurants in seven Midwestern states, Hy-Vee has three freestanding restaurants and is readying to open its first such format in Wisconsin this summer. Hy-Vee also has been a pillar of health and environmental initiatives in its community, including its Weber & Judd pharmacy acquisition, an app that helps shoppers reduce food waste, and benefits from the Healthy Savings wellness program being offered to its employees.
