Once again, San Antonio-based H-E-B was named the Most Trusted Grocer in America in BrandSpark and WGB’s annual report. And while the extensive survey, on which the report is based, revealed that H-E-B scored high on trust in a variety of categories among its own shoppers, it also nabbed top honors for its checkout and curbside pickup experience—besting Walmart, Amazon Fresh, Amazon Go and Publix, which rounded out the top five.
H-E-B’s curbside pickup programs run like a well-oiled machine, with friendly and efficient service helping to grease the wheels. At each new H-E-B store and remodel in the past several years, curbside pickup is a much-touted feature, with well-marked signage on its storefronts and in its parking lots directing shoppers to curbside pickup. For example, its recently opened 107,000-square-foot El Dorado store in Webster, Texas, boasts 26 parking spaces devoted to curbside pickup, making it one of the largest curbside facilities in the company.
After placing their order online, shoppers can easily locate the parking spots designated for curbside pickup at their local H‑E‑B store at the time they have selected. Once in the parking lot, shoppers text the number indicated on the sign to let H-E-B staff know they’ve arrived and it’s time to load the grocery order into their car. The program, H-E-B said, is designed to save customers time while offering all the products available in-store.
