In the local daily newspaper, H-E-B ran a 15-inch ad last month headlined, "This Week at Marketplace. Fiesta Kick-Off." The ad featured a lunch special from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Marketplace's "BBQ Counter." The special included a brisket poor boy sandwich with chips and root beer for $2.99.

A "Something New" headline in the same ad announced fresh-baked scones from the Marketplace bakery. The ad read, "Try the traditional currant scones, as well as our new ginger-lemon, cinnamon-raisin, dried fruit and orange varieties. Perfect with your afternoon tea or morning coffee."

And "Fiesta" empanadas were featured at four for 99 cents, with apple, pumpkin, pineapple, guava, or mango filling.
