MADISON, Wis. -- The International Dairy-Deli-Bakery Association has just released "preview packages" of its newly released five-part bakery training course and its deli training course.
with a full course; a brochure that describes the full course; and a flier that lists testimonials from retailers who have used the training courses.
The preview packages will be sent free of charge on a loan basis to IDDA members and nonmembers alike, said Mary Kay O'Connor, IDDA's director of education.
"We think these will give people a good idea of what the course is intended to do and how they can use it in their operation. The 22-page guide walks them through the leader's manual and the participant's workbooks. It shows them what their people can learn from each of the five parts of the course. We kept the preview pack compact enough so it gives them enough information without being overwhelming," O'Connor said.
She also pointed out that attendees at IDDA's upcoming seminar and expo, June 2 to 4 in Minneapolis, will have an opportunity to see more of the videotapes and to ask questions about the bakery and deli training courses on the show floor.
"We'll be set up to show the videos at our IDDA booth, which is number 2807. Parts four and five of the bakery course will get their first formal public showing there," O'Connor said. She explained that parts four and five of the course were just released in January.
Part four, "Creating Product Appeal," with a focus on merchandising, tells associates about the ways they can make both the products and the selling environment appealing to customers. Part five, "Path to Profit," is a hands-on training program for bakery managers. It covers building sales, understanding true profit, controlling inventory and shrink, managing expenses and building employee motivation.
