Growler stations are now offered in four stores: Slingerlands, Ballston Spa, Saratoga Springs, and Latham, N.Y.
“Did you know.. we pour 8 delicious craft beers to go, straight from the keg,” the retailer wrote in a Facebook post. “And thanks to our air-tight filling station, they’ll stay fresh until you open them.”
Among the offerings: Saranac Prism White Ale from Matt Brewing Company; and Switchback Ale from Switchback Brewing Company.
Growlers are tap beer poured in 32- and 64-ounce refillable jugs for home consumption. The jugs have special caps with inserts for extra freshness.
As reported, Price Chopper started testing self-serve craft beer stations last year in its Slingerlands, N.Y., store.
The sections are operated by The Growler Station, a Shelton, Conn.-based beer-to-go concept.
An iPad equipped with the Beer Wizard app helps shoppers make selections based on style preferences and food pairings.
Fills range from $8.99 to $17.99 depending on style and quantity. The growlers are packaged in a 2-liter plastic bottle for no surcharge, or reusable glass jugs in 32- or 64-ounces for $4 and $5, respectively.
