Safeway Introduces Protein-Packed Dairy Beverage

PLEASANTON, Calif. — Safeway has introduced a private-label, fat-free dairy beverage that has 30% more protein and 30% less sugar than regular fat-free milk.

Each serving of Lucerne Plus Protein dairy beverage contains 12 grams of protein, 8 grams of sugar, and 80 calories.

“Introducing a dairy beverage with more … and less,” Safeway writes on its Facebook page. “Lucerne Plus Protein Dairy Beverage gives you an extra boost of nutrition.”
