CVS Health and other major health insurers have deleted images of their C-suite and executive teams following the murder of UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson last week.

UnitedHealthcare’s parent company UnitedHealth had removed its executive leadership page following Thompson’s death. So far, reports indicate that health care companies including CVS Health, Blue Cross Blue Shield, and Anthem have followed suit—taking down photos and in some cases completely deleting executive bios.

A representative from CVS confirmed to Supermarket News that images of its executive team had been removed from the site. The representative would not confirm whether the photos had been taken down in direct connection to the UnitedHealthcare CEO shooting, nor would they respond to a question as to whether CVS or any of its executives had received threats in the past year.

Executive pages for several Blue Cross Blue Shield plans, including in Massachusetts and North Carolina have also been deleted, according to reports. Centene, the parent company of Anthem, have kept the bio pages for their executive team, but taken down their photos.

Thompson, 50, was shot multiple times in Manhattan on Dec. 4 outside the New York Hilton Midtown in Manhattan, where the company was hosting an investor day. Luigi Mangione, a suspect in Thompson’s murder, was taken into custody on Dec. 9 and is now being charged with murder. The 26-year-old is being held without bail in Altoona, Pa., and is expected to be extradited to New York City.

Though Thompson’s peers and others have expressed grief and condolences, his murder set off a twisted social media backlash, with many on sites like X and Reddit applauding the CEOs death out of anger and frustration with health insurers.
