Yogurt maker Chobani has moved out of the dairy case with new yogurt bars in individual Target Corp. and ShopRite stores.

A Target opening in New York’s Tribeca neighborhood in October will feature a Chobani Café, the retailer announced. It will be similar to Chobani’s standalone café in New York’s Soho neighborhood, which opened in 2012.

The new café will offer yogurt with a variety of sweet and savory toppings, as well as sandwiches, soups, coffee and desserts.

“Through Target’s flexible-format stores, we’re able to build customized stores in urban neighborhoods — like the Tribeca store — to make it easier for guests to shop,” Anne Stanchfield, VP, flexible formats and localization, Target, said in a press release. “There are a number of things we’re excited to share with guests who shop the Tribeca store, including the freshness and convenience of Chobani Café, trendy and affordable apparel and home products and a merchandise presentation that will make it fun and easy to shop.”

In December, Village Super Market unveiled the remodeled ShopRite of Stirling in Stirling, N.J., which features a Chobani Creation Bar as part of the “Village Wellness Garden” area of the store. The self-serve bar — which a Chobani spokesperson stressed is a test in this one location — allows shoppers to build their own yogurt parfaits.

Both of these outlets are one-off projects. A Chobani spokesperson said the brand was considering other café locations.
