From the editor: Thank you
Aisle 1: Winsight Grocery Business is merging with Supermarket News and will send its last daily newsletter on Friday. Stick with SN for the latest industry news.
First things first: Thank you.
Thank you for reading Winsight Grocery Business over the years and thank you for sharing your grocery industry news and expertise with our readers.
In case you haven’t heard, Winsight (and all of its publications, events and research) was acquired by Informa (publisher of Supermarket News and Nation’s Restaurant News, among many, many other publications) in May.
That transaction brings with it a number of changes, including the merger of Winsight Grocery Business with Supermarket News.
WGB’s last daily newsletter will be sent out on Friday and no new content will be posted to the site after that. Starting January 1, visitors to WGB will be redirected to SN, where they will find the latest news, industry trends and expert analysis SN has delivered for more than 70 years.
If you’re already a subscriber to WGB’s newsletters, there’s no need to do anything. You’ll automatically start receiving updates from SN.
Reporting on this fast-paced industry, getting to meet many of you at grocery events around the country and interviewing some of you for our coverage has been a real treat.
I’m incredibly proud of the journalism we have produced at WGB, work that would have been impossible without our current crew.
A huge thank-you to: Executive Editor Russell Redman for his nuanced and thorough reporting, particularly on the pending Kroger-Albertsons merger; Editor Diane Adam for her care in reporting on independent grocers and growth chains; Editor Timothy Inklebarger for explaining complex developments in grocery technology to readers; and Digital Design Specialist Kimberly Pellikan for building our engaging special reports and making our content visually appealing.
Change can be scary, but I’m grateful for the support of our readers and the hard work of the folks listed above.
Be sure to visit Supermarket News for the latest industry updates.
Thank you,
Heather Lalley, WGB editor in chief
