This past year saw all kinds of shifts at the highest level of the C-suite. Dollar Tree CEO Rick Dreiling announced he would step down due to health issues—a move that came as Dollar Tree experienced a string of poor-performing quarters. (Its most recent one was promising, though it did also lose CFO Jeff Davis). In July, Albertsons announced that its COO Susan Morris would move to C&S Wholesale Grocers to become president and CEO of retail if the $24.6 billion merger with Kroger is ultimately approved. Although at this point, Kroger has said it won’t pursue more M&A deals in the near future if the courts don’t give the go ahead to its Albertsons deal. And in October, CVS Health named longtime executive David Joyner as president and CEO, replacing Karen Lynch who stepped down from her position in agreement with the company’s board. The move came as the Woonsocket, R.I.-based retailer continues to struggle on delivering higher profits and improved stock performance.

And there’s plenty more where that came from. Read on.
