Company veteran to direct operations at regional grocer’s distribution center
May 26, 2021
Terry Wallace has been promoted to vice president of supply chain and logistics at Weis Markets.
The Sunbury, Pa.-based regional grocer said Wallace now oversees all of its supply chain, logistics and distribution activities at its 1.3 million-square-foot distribution center in Milton, Pa. He reports to Chief Operating Officer Kurt Schertle.
Previously, Wallace (left) held the post of director of procurement at Weis Markets. During his 21-year career at the grocery chain, he has served in increasingly senior distribution and procurement positions, including as nonfoods distribution manager and then as manager of supply chain, before being named as procurement director.
Wallace’s promotion marks Weis Markets’ fourth executive appointment in 2021. In January, the company hired former K-VA-T executive Michael Lockard as senior vice president, chief financial officer and treasurer, succeeding Scott Frost, who retired in March. Also in March, Bob Gleeson was promoted to senior vice president of merchandising and marketing, overseeing the company’s fresh and center-store merchandising, sales and procurement, marketing and advertising. The same month, Greg Zeh was elevated to senior vice president and chief information officer.
Overall, Weis Markets operates 198 supermarkets in Pennsylvania, Maryland, Delaware, New Jersey, New York, West Virginia and Virginia.
