AURORA, Colo. — Albertsons LLC is planning to close five stores in the Denver area and shutter its distribution center here, a spokeswoman for the company told SN yesterday. The move follows the announcement earlier this week that the company would also shutter four stores in Florida.

Boise, Idaho-based Albertsons LLC, which is separate from the Albertsons chain owned by Minneapolis-based Supervalu, will continue to operate 26 locations in Colorado, and will supply them from its main Southwest Division warehouse in Tolleson, Ariz.

The Aurora warehouse is expected to wind down operations sometime in November. The five stores slated for closure are located in Denver, Greenwood Village, Longmont, Arvada and Lafayette.
