MANDEVILLE, La. — Albertsons LLC is planning to open its first new store here this week, a location that had previously been an Albertsons store before it was sold to A&P in 2004.

Albertsons LLC said earlier this year that it had acquired the store and planned to reopen it.

“We feel the location has great potential,” Bob Miller, chief executive officer of Albertsons LLC, told SN earlier this year. “We're excited to introduce some of the new programs there that we've developed over the last three years.”

The opening comes after the privately held chain, which is separate from the Albertsons chain operated by Minneapolis-based Supervalu, announced last week that it would shutter nine stores in Florida and Colorado.
