BATAVIA, Ill. — Aldi is planning to expand its headquarters here with a new, 80,000-square-foot building that will include offices, conference rooms for supplier meetings, and product sampling space.
The German-owned company, which opened its 1,000th U.S. store this year and has aggressive plans to add more stores in 2010, is seeking city approval for the six-story structure, which would be the tallest on its 56-acre campus, according to the Aurora (Ill.) Beacon-News.
The headquarters employs about 375 people and would add another 75 to 85 workers in the next few years, the report said.
