Of the first 20 sites Lidl is to open this summer, six will open directly opposite or adjacent to a Walmart Supercenter and two additional Lidls will face off against Walmart Neighborhood Markets, according to SN’s analysis of Lidl’s store addresses that the retailer released Wednesday.

Aldi, which often locates its stores within a short distance of Walmart, as a result will also find itself nearby several new Lidl sites, as will Food Lion and Target.

SN used Google Maps to plot the addresses of the 20 stores Lidl said would open this summer, and searched surrounding areas. Some of Lidl’s sites, as previously reported, will be off major intersections and not face any food retailers directly, but would be within a short drive of existing players. SN’s list, while not necessarily comprehensive, endeavored to include stores within a three-mile radius of Lidl. Distances provided are driving distances as calculated by Google Maps. “Across the street” in the below list could indicate alongside, opposite corners or in adjoining center parking fields.
