KNOUS RALLIES TWIN CITIES IN GO RED CAMPAIGN

MINNEAPOLIS — Pamela Knous, Supervalu's executive vice president and chief financial officer, has been named campaign chair for the 2008 Twin Cities Go Red For Women campaign, sponsored by the American Heart Association. She will be in charge of raising funds throughout the community to support local cardiovascular research and educational programs on heart disease, which reportedly kills nearly half a million women a year. The campaign has raised more than $35 million nationally; $15 million of that came from community-based events. Knous said that Supervalu is making a $50,000 donation to this year's campaign. “As a company whose primary customers are women, Supervalu is committed to helping educate women about heart disease and to supporting their efforts to lead heart-healthy liefestyles.”

WEGMANS AIDS NEW JERSEY CHILDREN AND FAMILIES

ROCHESTER, N.Y. — Wegmans Food Markets was honored last month with the 2007 Friend of Children Award, presented by the Children's Home Society of New Jersey, Trenton, a nonprofit organization that helps at-risk infants, children, youth and families achieve their potential. The organization protects abused or neglected infants and children, and seeks to strengthen families. Throughout the 2006-2007 school year, Wegmans supported CHSNJ programs, including NJ After 3 — Positive Impact and Kids Intervention with Kids in School. The retailer also provided more than 750 students attending Trenton's Grace A. Dunn Middle School with back-to-school supplies, delivered after-school snacks to 200 students weekly and donated food baskets to needy families.

WAL-MART REPORTS 2006 CORPORATE CONTRIBUTIONS

BENTONVILLE, Ark. — Wal-Mart Stores' corporate giving in 2006, including donations raised, totaled $418.3 million. For the year ending Jan. 31, 2007, Wal-Mart generated $344.9 billion in net sales. The company gave $372.2 million to more than 4,000 U.S. communities. International donations came to $45.1 million. The company said global donations increased by $30 million over 2005. The three states that received the most combined contributions were Arkansas with $40.4 million, Texas with $35.2 million and Florida with $19 million.
