Costco Settles Suit Over Membership Charges

Costco Wholesale has received court approval of a settlement agreement in a class-action suit over its membership renewal practices.

ISSAQUAH, Wash. — Costco Wholesale here has received court approval of a settlement agreement in a class-action suit over its membership renewal practices.

The settlement calls for the retailer to provide between one and three months of free membership for club members who renewed their memberships more than three weeks late. The suit alleged that Costco had renewed such members but did not reset the membership date.
