DES MOINES, Iowa – Dahl's Foods, a 13-store independent based here, has joined Associated Wholesale Grocers, Kansas City, Kan., after ending a longstanding supply arrangement with Minneapolis-based Supervalu, an executive for the chain told SN.

Mark Brase, vice president at Dahl's, confirmed the switch but declined to discuss the company's reasoning.

Dahl's began receiving product from AWG at a new store in Ames, Iowa, when that store reopened in May after being converted from a former Cub Foods location, Brase said.

The rest of the Dahl's locations began receiving product from AWG about two weeks ago. The stores are being served from AWG's Kansas City, Kan., warehouse, he said.
