COMMERCE, Calif. — Bodega Latina Corp. here, operators of 16 El Super supermarkets, plans to open its second Arizona location — in Tucson — later this week in a newly built store in a renovated shopper center, according to published reports.

Bodega Latina — the company that acquired seven Gigante USA stores last summer and converted them to the El Super banner — operates 15 stores in the Los Angeles area and one in Phoenix. As with all of its stores, the Tucson store will reportedly serve a heavily Hispanic clientele.

The company reportedly has plans to expand into Nevada, along with additional locations in California and Arizona.

Bodega Latina officials could not be reached for comment.
