SEATTLE — The first IGA store in this city’s downtown area was scheduled to open last night. The store is Kress IGA Supermarket, an 18,000-square-foot store located in the basement of a building that for over 50 years housed the S.H. Kress & Co. department store. The IGA store is owned by Tyler Myers of the Myers Group, which operates two other IGA stores in the local area. IGA said Myers invested more than $2 million to renovate the store, which is located in a newly developing retail area here. IGA said the store will serve an estimated 18,000 residents in the area and another 13,000 people who work in the vicinity.
