ARLINGTON, Va. — The Food Marketing Institute here will combine its Energy & Technical Services Conference and Retail Store Development Conference into a single conference called the 2010 Energy & Store Development Conference. The new conference will be held Sept. 19-22 in Minneapolis.

“Our member committees recommended the two conferences be combined to take advantage of the synergies that exist,” said Kathleen Thomas, spokeswoman for FMI. “Many of the people who work in the energy division work closely with those who specialize in store development and vice versa.”

In addition, she said, many of the same vendors had attended both separate conferences. The educational sessions at the combined conference “will appeal to both specialties,” though breakout sessions will address topics specific to each area, she added.
