FMI Names Three Store Managers of Year

DALLAS — The Food Marketing Institute presented its 2009 Store Manager of the Year Awards yesterday at the Future Connect conference here.

Bob Gillick of a ShopRite in Yonkers, N.Y., won for small chains and was cited for tripling operating income and community work; Henry Falcon of Sweetbay in Plant City, Fla., won for midsized chains and was cited for boosting comps and promoting employees to management positions; and Jeff Barricks of Safeway in Corvallis, Ore., won for large chains and was cited for shrink reduction and promoting diversity.
