Four Grocery Co-Ops in Top 10

Topco Associates, Wakefern Food Corp., Associated Wholesale Grocers and Unified Grocers all were cited among the top 10 on the NCB Co-op 100 list of the largest cooperatives in the country, which was released yesterday.

WASHIGNTON — Topco Associates, Wakefern Food Corp., Associated Wholesale Grocers and Unified Grocers all were cited among the top 10 on the NCB Co-op 100 list of the largest cooperatives in the country, which was released yesterday.

NCB — formerly known as National Cooperative Bank — cited agricultural cooperative CHS of St. Paul, Minn., as the No. 1 co-op overall, with 2008 revenues of $32.2 billion. Topco, Skokie, Ill., was No. 4 overall, at $9.9 billion; Wakefern, Keasbey, N.J., was No. 5 with $8.4 billion in revenues; AWG was No. 6 with $6.9 billion; and Unified, Commerce, Calif., was No. 10 with $4.1 billion.
