WILLOW GROVE, Pa. — Giant of Carlisle this month opened a 97,300-square-foot Super Giant store here, the Ahold-owned chain's largest site in Pennsylvania and its first Super Giant store in the greater Philadelphia area.
The store includes such features as a 32-seat cooking school, a Wi-Fi cafe, a community center and a supervised children's play area called The Tree House. The Nature's Promise marketplace carries 3,500 natural and organic products, including Ahold's Nature's Promise brand.
The store also has an on-site nutritionist and has a partnership with nearby Abingdon Memorial Hospital, which will conduct various classes at the Giant store.
The new store is just a few miles from a 125,000-square-foot Wegmans in Warrington, Pa., that opened in 2006, and will soon also compete with a 195,000-square-foot Wal-Mart Supercenter set to open in May in Montgomery County.
