COLORADO SPRINGS — Doug Blough, the longtime director of communications for the Global Market Development Council here, has lost his fight with pancreatic cancer at the age of 58. Initially, Blough worked with GMDC as outside contractor, joining the management team in 1999. In 2005, he retired from the association to pursue his personal interest in fine art digital imagery, but continued with the group on a limited, contract basis. “Doug made huge contributions to GMDC and its success over the years, and he’ll be missed by all of us privileged to have worked with him,” said David McConnell, GMDC’s president and chief executive officer. “He fought against this insidious disease and to the very end maintained the sense of dignity, kindness and caring for others that were at the core of who he was.” Blough is survived by his wife, Linda; two children, Justin and Amanda; and two grandchildren. The family has asked that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to: The Blough Children Educational Fund, c/o US Bank, 6 South Tejon St., Colorado Springs, CO 80903; Attention: L. Specht.
