BETHPAGE, N.Y. — King Kullen Grocery Co. will close its Castleton Corners location in New York City’s Staten Island this summer, marking the second King Kullen to close in the borough this year, reports said.
Both the store that closed in January and the Castleton Corners store, which is scheduled to close Aug. 31, were among five stores King Kullen acquired as part of federally mandated divestitures in the A&P-Pathmark merger. The store formerly operated under the Waldbaums banner. King Kullen took over the location last January.
According to the Staten Island Advance newspaper, the retailer was unable to negotiate terms on the lease, which is to expire this year.
