McGowan Named EVP at Ahold USA

CARLISLE, Pa. — Ahold USA here said on Thursday that it has named Mark McGowan executive vice president of Merchandising, effective immediately.

CARLISLE, Pa. — Ahold USA here said on Thursday that it has named Mark McGowan executive vice president of merchandising, effective immediately.

McGowan had been executive vice president of supply chain at Ahold USA since last year, and has been leading the merchandising function on an interim basis. He reports to James McCann, chief operating officer.

In his new position, McGowan will lead a merchandising team that supports Ahold USA and its four Divisions — Stop & Shop New England, Stop & Shop New York Metro, Giant-Landover and Giant-Carlisle.

McGowan joined Stop & Shop Supermarket Co. in 1991 as a management trainee, and held several executive posts with Stop & Shop before being named president of Stop & Shop New England in 2009.

“With more than 20 years of experience at Ahold USA companies, Mark is well suited to take on his newest leadership role with the company,” said McCann in a statement. “Mark’s strong experience in operations, supply chain and divisional leadership will be a great asset to our merchandising function.”
