North Carolina Piggly Wigglys to Re-Sign With Nash Finch

KINSTON, N.C. — A group of 32 Piggly Wiggly stores in North Carolina operated by various owners plans to sign a new five-year supply agreement with Nash Finch, Minneapolis, John H. Morgan, Piggly Wiggly chief executive officer, told SN Friday.

He confirmed that 25 other Piggly Wiggly stores formerly in the same group had moved to Merchant Distributors Inc., Hickory, N.C. However, contrary to a report in SN, the remaining stores "are not considering leaving, nor have they ever intended to go to MDI," Morgan told SN.

Nash Finch officials could not be reached for comment.
