SPRINGDALE, Ark. — Services were held here last week for Donald L. Harp, who grew Harps Food Stores from a single store to a chain of dozens of supermarkets in three states.

Harp died Jan. 15 at age 83, the company said. Harp was the oldest son of Harvard and Floy Harp, who founded the company as a single store in 1930. He joined the family business in the early 1950s and served as president of the company from the time of his father's death in 1968 until retiring in 1994. Harp was also a former member of the board of directors of Associated Wholesale Grocers, Kansas City, Kan.
