EDEN PRAIRIE, Minn. — Memorial services are scheduled this Friday for Paul Singer, former chief information officer of Supervalu, who died June 11 after a long battle against brain cancer. Prior to joining Minneapolis-based Supervalu, Singer, 57, was CIO of Target Corp., also based in Minneapolis. An adoptive father of three girls from Russia, Singer was well known for his work in promoting adoption, serving as chief executive officer of the Global Orphan Care Foundation and inspiring the creation of the Retail Orphan Initiative (RetailROI). He is survived by his wife, Teri; six children; three grandchildren; and his mother, sister and brother. Supervalu previously said it had named Wayne Shurts, formerly of Cadbury, to succeed Singer as CIO.
