Obituary: Scott Preece

PORTLAND, Ore. — Funeral services are scheduled here today for Scott Preece, vice chairman of WinCo Foods, Boise, Idaho, who died last week following a six-month battle with stomach cancer. Preece began his industry career with Waremart, the forerunner of WinCo, when he joined the company as a store manager in 1969. He worked his way up to become chief operating officer in 1990, and in 2001, two years after the company began operating under the WinCo banner, he added the title of president. When he retired from WinCo in 2006, he was named non-executive vice chairman.
