Raley’s Launches Community Grant Program

WEST SACRAMENTO. Calif. — Raley's Supermarkets here is offering $7,500 grants to five community projects as determined by its customers over the next few weeks in a program called Raley's Reach.
Beginning Wednesday, consumers in Northern California and Northern Nevada will be able to submit nominations on a special website — raleys.com/reach — with suggestions for ideas that serve the community.
The company said the money for the grants, totalling $37,500, is part of the chain's ongoing vendor promotion with PepsiCo.
To qualify, ideas must meet criteria in one of three areas: Improving the lives of children under 18, creating healthy communities and a healthier planet, or celebrating the arts.
A chain spokeswoman said nominations that meet the criteria will be posted on the website immediately, with voting scheduled to start April 21 to select the top five ideas. Those winners will each receive a $7,500 grant to put the projects into action.
“We're counting on the community to rally around the causes most dear to them by spreading the word about Raley's Reach for a chance to make a difference,” said Jennifer Teel-Wolter, the chain’s marketing manager.
