SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. — SN presented its 2013 Marketer of the Year Award to Safeway’s Diane Dietz Monday evening during the FMI Midwinter Executive Conference.

Diane Dietz accepts the award from SN’s Jerry Rymont.

The presentation was made by Jerry Rymont, SN's publisher and vice president of the Food Group of Penton Media, SN's parent company.

Dietz, who has been executive vice president and chief marketing officer at the Pleasanton, Calif.-based company since July 2008, has spearheaded Safeway’s rollout of its Just For U personalized marketing program, among other initiatives in which she has brought her shopper-focused mindset to bear.

"Diane’s success can be attributed to her strong focus on the consumer, a discipline she honed during her 19 years at Procter & Gamble,"said Rymont in his presentation remarks.

In accepting the award, Dietz said, "Retailing is a full contact team sport. It's not about me. It's about the great team."

The award is sponsored by Acosta.
