ST. LOUIS — Schnuck Markets’ new downtown store here will be named Culinaria — A Schnucks Market, and will open this summer, officials told SN Wednesday.
The store, described as “a combination food and drug store unlike any other in our company,” is set for a summer opening at the 9th Street Garage, part of the Old Post Office redevelopment serving a growing downtown population including residents, office workers and tourists, said Lori Willis, spokeswoman for Schnucks.
Willis said the name Culinaria reflects that along with the essential grocery and pharmacy items, the store will offer a variety of culinary education services. The name will also go on a variety of premium food items that will be ready to launch when the store opens this summer.
The store — which will measure 21,000 square feet on its lower level and 6,300 square feet on its upper level, will have a heavy emphasis on prepared foods, including hot food bars and other grab-and-go offerings.
