TORONTO -- Shoppers Drug Mart here has named Jurgen Schreiber to succeed Glenn Murphy as chief executive officer of Canada's largest chain drug store.

TORONTO -- Shoppers Drug Mart here has named Jurgen Schreiber to succeed Glenn Murphy as chief executive officer of Canada‘s largest chain drug store. Schreiber joined Shoppers as chief operating officer in July. Murphy, a former executive at Loblaw, joined Shoppers as CEO in 2001 and is credited with growing the retailer into a $6 billion company through expansion and addition of new categories including food. Murphy in a statement said he would pursue “opportunities outside of Canada” after he departs in March.
