MIAMI — Sedano’s Supermarkets on Wednesday said it would begin making a $30 monthly gift card donation to all of its hourly employees.

The “stimulus plan” will provide more than 2,600 workers with about $500,000 in value through December, the Hispanic-focused retailer said. The card can be used to purchase any items at Sedano’s 30 stores.

“The recession has affected everyone including our employees,” Augustin Herran, chief executive officer of Sedano’s, said in a prepared statement. “We want to help our Sedano’s family members through these difficult economic times.”
