ALBANY, N.Y. — Officials here have received a proposal that would bring New Jersey-based supermarket chain ShopRite to the Capitol region for the first time, the Times-Union newspaper reported Thursday.

According to the report, a 65,000-square-foot ShopRite is proposed as part of a shopping center redevelopment being discussed by city zoning officials. The chain, part of the Wakefern Food Corp. cooperative based in Keasbey, N.J., had no comment. ShopRite currently has a store in Hudson, N.Y., about 30 miles South of Albany.
