Skylar Named WGA Woman of Year

ARLINGTON, Va. — The Women Grocers of America here said Tuesday it has selected Stephanie Skylar, president and chief executive officer of Chief Super Market, Defiance, Ohio, as WGA Woman of the Year.

ARLINGTON, Va. — The Women Grocers of America here said Tuesday it has selected Stephanie Skylar, president and chief executive officer of Chief Super Market, Defiance, Ohio, as WGA Woman of the Year.

Skylar will be formally honored during the upcoming National Grocers Association convention in Las Vegas. WGA is an information and advisory arm of the National Grocers Association.

According to NGA, the WGA award recognizes an industry woman whose leadership has contributed to the success of her company. Among the programs Skylar oversees is Chief University, a hands-on employee training program, and "Good Neighbor," an effort to supply food to more than 250 pantries in the company's operating area.

Chief Super Market is a family-owned regional chain with 12 stores operating under the Chief and Rays banners in northwest and west-central Ohio.
