BROOKLINE, Mass. — Whole Foods Market is set to open in a converted Johnnie’s Foodmaster location here this week, local reports said.

At around 8,000 square feet, the store will be the smallest of Whole Foods’ 340 stores in the U.S.

Austin, Texas-based Whole Foods acquired the lease for the Brookline store along with five other former Johnnie’s Foodmaster stores last year. It said it intended to reopen the stores under the Whole Foods banner this year.

Whole Foods was not immediately available for comment Monday.
