LAKEWOOD, Calif. — The Western Association of Food Chains here said yesterday Mike Stigers, president of PW Markets, San Jose, Calif., has been elected secretary. Stigers has been a WAFC director for over eight years and had been chairman of the association's bylaws committee.

The position of secretary became vacant in September when Mike Proulx left as president and chief operating officer of Bashas', Chandler, Ariz., prompting him to resign his position as vice president of WAFC.

As a result of Proulx's resignation, Carl Schroeder, president of the Northern California division of Safeway, Pleasanton, Calif., moved from treasurer to vice president; and Lynn Gust, executive vice president, merchandising and advertising, for Kroger-owned Fred Meyer Co., Portland, Ore., moved from secretary to treasurer. Pete Van Helden, executive vice president of Minneapolis-based Supervalu, continues as WAFC president.
