LUBBOCK, Texas — Sun Harvest, a natural and organic specialty chain, is planning to open its ninth Texas location here this fall, according to reports.
The new store would be the chain’s first expansion since being acquired two years ago by Los Angeles-based Smart & Final.
According to the Lubbock Avalanche-Journal, the store will measure about 30,000 square feet and will focus on locally sourced product.
Sun Harvest is a division of Henry’s Farmers Markets, which operates 39 stores in California, in addition to the eight Sun Harvest locations in Texas.
Smart & Final acquired the stores from Wild Oats in 2007 amid that company’s acquisition by Whole Foods. Smart & Final has since expanded Henry’s to Northern California and recently unveiled plans to expand with a hybrid concept in Denver.
