MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Stepherson's Superlo Foods here is leasing one of the former Schnucks locations that closed when the St. Louis-based company vacated the market earlier this year, according to local reports.

Stepherson's, which operates five supermarkets in the Memphis market, is taking a site in the Southaven Commons shopping center — one of three Schnucks locations that was not acquired by Cincinnati-based Kroger Co. in September.

Officials at Stepherson's could not be reached for further comment.

The company, which operates four stores under the Superlo Foods banner and one Stepherson's Neighborhood Market, is supplied by Associated Wholesale Grocers of Kansas City, Kan. It had a market share of about 1.3% before the Schnucks exit, according to Metro Market Studies, Tucson, Ariz.
