TAMASAKI, Japan – Costco Wholesale said two people were killed at its store here in last week's earthquake when a parking ramp collapsed.

The store also sustained "significant damage" in the temblor, the membership club retailer said in a prepared statement. The eight other Costco store locations in Japan have been inspected and are "open for business," said the company, which is based in Issaquah, Wash.

The Tamasakai location is expected to remain closed for several months, Costco said.

To assist in the relief efforts, all 581 Costco locations around the world will be accepting donations at cash registers for the Red Cross/Red Crescent Relief Fund. Donations can also be made through the Red Cross link on www.costco.com.
