CINCINNATI — Members of United Food and Commercial Workers Locals 1099 and 911 are pursuing a merger to create a new group, UFCW Local 75, which would be one of the five largest UFCW unions in the country, reports said Tuesday.

The merger — which would represent a local comprising 30,000 workers in Ohio, Kentucky and Indiana — has already been approved by the membership of Local 911, based in Toledo.

Local 1099, based here and comprised mainly of employees at Kroger, was expected to vote this week. Local 1099 officials were not immediately available for comment Tuesday.
