Unionized Wal-Mart Seeks to Decertify: Report

St. HYACINTHE, Quebec — Workers at a Wal-Mart store that won union representation a few years ago are now looking to decertify the union, according to published reports.

The Quebec Labour Board is scheduled to have a hearing next week after 147 of the 205 employees of the store signed papers seeking to decertify United Food and Commercial Workers Local 501, according to the Toronto Star newspaper. The store was one of only two Wal-Mart stores in Canada that had won union representation and also negotiated a contract with the retailer.
