Weis Markets on Wednesday said it planned to buy a Hanover, Pa., Shur-fine store and convert it to a replacement Weis Markets store.

Nell’s Family Market of Hanover is currently owned by C&S Wholesale Grocers. Purchase terms were not disclosed.

When the purchase is completed at the end of August, Weis said the acquired store would replace a nearby Weis store. Both stores will remain open in the weeks prior to the finalization of the purchase. As part of this transition, Weis said it planned to interview current employees at Nell’s location.

“The purchase of Nell’s Shur-fine Market will give us a more convenient location and larger store which will allow us to offer a better shopping experience and improved variety in every department,” said Kurt Schertle, Weis Markets’ COO. “Since our relocation will result in increased staffing needs, we are interested in interviewing the associates of this Nell’s location for employment at our company.”
