Ahold Delhaize USA expands new Peapod Digital mobile app to more banners
Stop & Shop and Food Lion are the newest banners to adopt the new mobile shopping experience. The app was deployed earlier this year for Giant Food and The Giant Co.

Ahold Delhaize USA’s digital backbone Peapod Digital Labs (PDL) has launched its new native mobile app to Ahold Delhaize USA banners Stop & Shop and Food Lion as it looks to bolster its unified shopping experience.
In a keynote talk at Groceryshop 2023 in Las Vegas last month, Ahold Delhaize USA CEO JJ Fleeman said the food retailer is a well-practiced omnichannel player.
Launched on PDL’s proprietary Prism platform earlier this quarter at Ahold Delhaize USA’s banner stores Giant Food and The Giant Co., the new app increases speed and overall performance, according to an announcement from PDL on Tuesday.
"Efficiency wasn’t the only priority,” said Paul Yang, director of Mobile Engineering at PDL, in a statement. “It’s also our aim to create a more modern interface with aesthetic representative of each of the brands, complete with animations to bring moments of delight into what is typically a transactional experience.”
Looking to simplify the process for shoppers to place, track and modify their delivery and in-store pickup orders, the new app also offers the option of reordering items from past purchases and personalized recommendations. Digital coupons can also now be clipped and added to a shoppers’ loyalty card, through Apple or Google wallets.
“This is a significant achievement in improving the omnichannel shopping experiences of customers for the brands of Ahold Delhaize USA,” said Mahesh Sahni, director of Mobile Product for PDL, in a statement. “This new mobile app is built on a modern platform enabling the Prism brands to better connect customers with the products they need, and ushers us into the next evolution of mobile shopping.”
