Southeastern Grocers Inc. (SEG) has partnered with Shipt for online grocery delivery at its Fresco y Mas division in Florida. The same-day delivery service is now available across the banner’s 26 stores throughout South Florida, Tampa and Orlando.

Jacksonville, Fla.-based SEG noted that the new partnership makes Fresco y Mas one of the first Hispanic grocers to offer grocery delivery to Hispanic and Caribbean customers in metro markets across Florida, with delivery offerings such as hot, prepared items from the grocer’s cocina (kitchen).

“We are continuously making improvements to increase the quality of our customers’ lives through convenient and enjoyable shopping experiences,” Anthony Hucker, SEG’s president and CEO, said in a statement. “This is why we are proud to announce our partnership with Shipt as another way for customers to purchase their favorite Fresco y Mas quality products and value delivered directly to their doorstep.”

In a recent SEG survey, the company found that many online shoppers find grocery deliver appealing, with more than one-third of SEG customers purchasing groceries online within the past year. Of those customers, 88% of them also had the items delivered. SEG said the survey indicated that time-saving convenience is the top reason customer shop online versus in-store.

Through the new partnership, Fresco y Mas customers can place orders via the Shipt app or website for delivery of a variety of groceries, including fresh produce, meat and seafood, as well as household items such as health and beauty products, pet offerings and consumable baby items.

“Residents of South Florida, Orlando and Tampa will have the convenience of easy, personal delivery of their favorite items from another beloved local retailer,” Bill Smith, founder and CEO of Birmingham, Ala.-based Shipt, said in a statement. “Through our app, our members have access to everything they need, when they need it, right at their fingertips.”

SEG operates stores under the Bi-Lo, Fresco y Mas, Harveys Supermarket and Winn-Dixie banners across Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Louisiana, Mississippi, North Carolina and South Carolina. In addition to Fresco y Mas, the company offers Shipt delivery at its Winn-Dixie and Bi-Lo stores.
