H Mart eyes 2024 for opening of 1st Nevada store
The more than 54,552-square-foot store Asian supermarket will be in the Sahara Pavilion South Shopping Center at 2620 S. Decatur Blvd. in Las Vegas, the specialty grocer said in revealing more details about the project.

H Mart will open its first store in Las Vegas in 2024, the Lyndhurst, New Jersey-based specialty grocer told WGB on Wednesday.
The more than 54,552-square-foot store will be in the Sahara Pavilion South Shopping Center at 2620 S. Decatur Blvd.
“We enrich lives with our Asian heritage, food and culture," Brian Kwon, president of H Mart, said in a statement to WGB. “Carrying over from H Mart’s previous successes in the East Coast area, H Mart’s first branch in Las Vegas will be placed at Sahara Pavilion South shopping center. H Mart will become a place to experience the best of what communities have to offer, providing a convenient ‘one-stop shopping’ place for diverse cultures and to the neighborhood, where different ethnicities of friends and neighbors can come, gather and enjoy. Our main priority is always to serve and satisfy the needs of the surrounding communities.”
The new H Mart store will feature Asian groceries and housewares, fresh produce, meat, seafood and more.
H Mart has other new sites planned as well. Looking to expand its brick-and-mortar footprint in the Midwest, H Mart is reportedly looking to open a new location in Urbana, Illinois.
The new store will be located at 220 N. Broadway Ave., less than two miles from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign campus, as first reported by the Korea Times Chicago.
H Mart now operates five stores in the Chicago area, according to the grocer’s website. This store would be the first in Illinois outside the Chicago metro area.
The grocery retailer is also reportedly looking to open a new store in Brookline, Massachusetts, as reported by The Patch and other local media. H Mart currently operates three stores in Massachusetts, according to the grocery retailer's website.
Earlier this year, H Mart opened its ninth store in New Jersey on level 1 of the American Dream mall at 1 American Dream Way in East Rutherford, New Jersey, about 12 miles from New York City.
Founded in 1982, H Mart now operates over 75 stores in 14 states across the U.S.
