H Mart’s footprint in Texas is about to get bigger.

The Asian grocer, which now operates six locations in Texas, will add another supermarket in Dallas at 2534 Royal Lane that will span over 142,888 square feet.

“We are expanding in Dallas and bringing our passion for Asian food culture to the community,” said Brian Kwon, president of H Mart, in a statement.

The store will be located in the city’s Koreatown neighborhood, which is in the northwest area of Dallas.

“Dallas is an increasingly international city,” said Dallas Mayor Eric L. Johnson in a statement. “I am excited to welcome this premier Asian American supermarket—and one of the nation’s fastest-growing retailers. H Mart Dallas will enrich the immediate northwest Dallas community and cater to a diverse array of multicultural customers throughout our vibrant city.”

Earlier this month, the Dallas City Council approved $3.5 million in grant and tax incentives to build the H Mart supermarket.

The new store will feature fresh produce, meat, seafood, Asian groceries and housewares. The store will also include a “mega food hall,” according to a press release from the Lyndhurst, New Jersey-based specialty grocer.

“H Mart will be an exciting addition to Koreatown here in Dallas,” Dallas Deputy Mayor Pro Tempore Omar Narvaez said in a statement. “The economic impact that H Mart will bring is exciting, and I am proud to welcome them to Dallas.”

Texas is not the only state H Mart is eyeing for growth.

The retailer’s website lists a new location coming soon to Brookline, Massachusetts, at 1028 Beacon St., and said it is now hiring for all positions.

H Mart is also reportedly looking to open a new store in West Jordan, Utah,  according to local media reports. The West Jordan store would be H Mart's first location in Utah.

Established in New York in 1982 as Han Ah Reum (a Korean phrase meaning “arm full of groceries”), H Mart now operates over 75 stores in 14 states across the United States.
